A0B 5 - Evaluation

This is my Evaluation of process and product for through the progression of Unit 3.
Throughout the Unit so far we have been working in a team for our filming based project. I believe that working in a team is a great way of learning and developing different skills and communication based skills. Over time i have learnt to do so, and from this i believe that i work really well in a team. I find my role to be a large one as I like to organize everything and I am the person who makes sure deadlines are met and the project is done correctly. However, this may be a good skill and be a good role in a team and gets the job done, I find that i do stress out a lot and seem to let the other members of the group just 'chill out' and not work so hard. This is a negative point in my eyes because 1) I'm taking on a large job myself and 2) I'm not allowing others to do as much work and develop their skills. After this project i feel as though i have worked on this a lot and sat back and let others do just as much work as me, which has helped in many ways as I don't have to be as stressed and others in my team can develop their skills further.

In terms of meeting deadlines at the start of the project we were really motivated and ready to work hard, however after a few weeks we lost our motivation and wasn't as excited as we were previously. this did not stop us meeting deadlines though, but I feel though next time we should keep the motivation going for longer. When organizing my work I managed to keep a diary and keep up to date what i did and didn't need to do. Other members of the group also has brilliant organization skills as at least one day we all managed to provide the group different equipment needed. I feel as though when using communication to other members of the group it was a strong point of not just mine but Alex and Lilly's too. Because we are close friends out of college we communicate a lot anyway, so when it came to working together we were abel to communicate easily and present different ideas to each other without worrying what each other would think.

When evaluating our final product with a professional product i feel as thought we accomplished a lot more than what we expected ourselves and what was expected of us. In the focus group meeting when we presented our ideas to the group, people looked too unsure of us using the green screen and chroma key in final cut. But when we finally got the hang of how to use both we created a professional looking background. In comparison to Rihanna's music video 'Rude boy' the green screen and chroma key used there looks just as good as what ours does.  Our main aim was to make sure the video didn't look cheap and tacky, and i feel as thought we certainly achieved this. We didn't have a huge budget or a great setting in the way a superstar does, along with the equipment, but i think our final product has class and we have achieved a lot to say we only learnt as we went along.

Our proposal I believe would exceed any expectation of the client as we followed a narrative of a club scene which Ke$ha is heavily associated with, the night life, party, sexual provocative nature of her videos was a clear focus and the lyrics were heavily focused upon to not just cater to the needs of the client in terms of up keeping her image but to get the song into people's brains, to advertise her as a brand, sell millions of records and hopefully win multiple awards. know we showed a clear sense of originality throughout the entire video as we clearly showed things I believe have never even been shown within music videos until now. We showed obvious ways in which the 'diva' attitude could be put across whilst including intertextual references such as the 'Madonna - Vogue' scene I believe especially for Ke$ha's usual video's the use of these references added a whole new feature of originality through bringing in video influences from the past into modern day artist's work. Originality can also be seen through way in which the green screen was used to display backgrounds that were shapes and spinning objects with added effects such as kaleidoscope and glow, plus the array of effects and sequences that were used throughout the video were original in their own right.

In terms of legal and ethical requirements we specifically made sure that we didn't redistribute or steal any ideas of recent artists, producers or directors from today or the past. Copyright and green screen effects was a huge issue to conquer as we wern't aloud to use anyone else's work. However this gave us the chance to have a play around with new backgrounds and create our own which in the end looked a lot better than ones which had already been created. I learnt so many valuable skills and helped me to accept others ideas and accept constructive criticism without thinking they were insulting my work. Another copyright issue we has was that we were not aloud to use the finished product to show our friends and family by putting it on a social networking site as that would be going agaisnt copyright terms and conditions.

The quality of the finished product is on a high scale. The use of very profesional filming has increased the quality a lot and is one of the main strenghts of the video. Another strength is the different scenes we were abel to provide throughout th video and the wide range of scenes.  Unfortunate weakness's are things such as the presise demand of editing and lyric synchronization, this held us back and took up a lot of our time.

Finally, our origonal song that we chose was Katy Perry - Last Friday Night (TGIF), however we changed the song to a remix of the first as we felt the tempo wasn't upbeat enough. After once changing the song we decided we still wasn't happy with out choice and then did more research. After coming across Ke$ha - Blow we thought it would be the perfect song for us and our video.

A0B 4 - Production

Due to technical difficulties we were not abel to upload the music video to Blogger. However, here are some screen shots of the video and it will be on this disk.

A0B 3 - Recce and Risk assesment

At one point in the video, we wanting to come through these doors, which are actually doors to a small store room. So before filming this clip we had to clear the area we would be walking through, to prevent any accidents. After we had cleared the area we thought it was a fit area to film around.
The final place we were filming was using the green screen in the blackout room. This area is used for filming, so it was a safe place to film our footage. The camera was set up on a tripod and was stationary so we didn't have to do any moving around, which made it a lot less risky as it is a small room.

We decided to use this outside area for filming part of our music video. After assessing the area, we thought it was a safe place to film and have the equipment. The area was large and open, with nothing to trip over or obstruct our filming. Also we were filming during lesson time, so their wasn't an issue with other people being around to damage the equipment or themselves around the equipment.
